The NFL season 2018-19 has just entered its fourth week and has already sprung up enough surprises for the fans to be super excited for this year’s Super Bowl LIII. None of the top contenders is anywhere near the top of their respective standings and the ones who are at the top, where least expected to be there. Yes, it is way too early to map out any prediction but they way things have gone so far, it won’t be wrong to expect a new champion of American Football. The likes of Tom Brady, Nick Foles, Kirk Cousins, or any of the big guns are yet to deliver the goods for their side. Odds are dwindling with every game, and the pundits are in no hurry to bet their money on favourites.
Super Bowl 2019 Winning Team Predictions
Yes, there are names which experts believe are good enough to compete for the title, but what we have witnessed so far, it will take a lot from the contenders to get the better of the on fire underdogs. The season is a long one though, and despite all the upsets so far, the big names still hold the odds in their favour. Be it the New England Patriots or the Minnesota Vikings; pundits believe the title contenders are still among the expected names. Keeping their views and the way NFL has progressed so far, here is our top 5 list of contenders who can go on to lift the Lombardi Trophy on the night of 3rd February 2019 at Atlanta Falcons’ all-new Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
Green Bay Packers
After starting their campaign with a close win, tie, and a defeat, the Green Bay Packers displayed their ruthless best against the Buffalo Bills this past week as they blanked them 22-0. Packers’ were hampered with the absence of quarterback Aaron Rodgers last season, which had dealt a heavy blow to their campaign. With a full-strength squad now rearing to have a go, Green Bay Packers are well and truly amongst the top contenders to visit the Mercedes-Benz Stadium as the participating side.
Eagles are struggling as of now, with defeats to Titans and Buccaneers already. Their offence is looking entirely out of place, defensively they’ve been decent but the failure going ahead has coated them so far. Despite that, they’re still in this list above a patchy but rampant looking Packers side, why? Probably because of the side they’ve got. Carson Wentz is in decent form, and the moment a couple of other names start clicking, Eagles will be flying off again.
Kansas City Chiefs
Chiefs’ quarterback, Patrick Mahomes II has become a fan favourite in Kansas City. He has made the fans believe they’ve got things under control and do stand a fair chance of making it through to the playoffs and well might be to the Super Bowl as well. The only thing that must be bothering the Chiefs is an injury to their first choice players. If that doesn’t happen, Kansas City Chiefs are for sure going to hover around in the top 3 odds for the Super Bowl 2019.
New England Patriots
I don’t when was the last time New England Patriots weren’t pipped to be the favourites for lifting the Lombardi Trophy. I guess maybe before the Tom Brady era. In the past 19 years, Patriots have managed to win the title 5 times, of which four times the MVP for them was Tom Brady. He has been yet to deliver this season what he is known to deliver but he along with Belichick is still good enough to keep New England Patriots among the favourites for the Super Bowl 2019.
Los Angeles Rams
They ended their NFL preseason campaign with a crushing 28-0 defeat to the Saints. Their manager Les Snead, people, believed had gone insane, as he made a flurry of new signings to bolster his side. Then began the primary season and Rams sit at the top of the pile with four wins from 4 games including a 34-0 drubbing of the Cardinals and a 38-31 win over rivals Vikings. Their offence has been annoying if not anything else. Jared Goff, Aaron Donald, and most interestingly their Wide Receiver, Cooper Kupp have held them in good stead. The presence of three big names tells you how strong they’re on paper. The injury might derail their campaign of course, but ruling the negativities, they look all set to enjoy the Super Bowl 2019 success come February 3rd.
Minnesota Vikings too are billed as one of the top contenders for the Super Bowl 53, but when compared, they fall short by a mile to these five. Atlanta Falcons, the hosts for Super Bowl LIII, were also pipped for some success owing to their fresh roster but they currently find themselves at the bottom of NFC South’s points table.
